In March 2000 the Springs of Living Water became a recipient of the Neighborhood Grant of $2,500.00, the first grant from Hawaii Community Foundation. With this seed money the Job Enhancement Training Program formally started which included English as Second Language, Computer Literacy, Resume Writing and Preparing for Job Interview & Financial Management. Within the year, initial participants of 30 newly arrived immigrants and mothers on Welfare availed and benefited from the trainings.
In July of 2001, Springs of Living Water became a recipient of grants for Literacy and Job Enhancement Projects for newly arrived immigrants and Pacific Islanders. The Atherton Family Foundation granted $5,000 and $10,000 from Pizza Hut Family Literacy Fund, both administered by the Hawaii Community Foundation.
On March 24,2002 with the help and support of the Brethren of Christ International church, with its Senior Pastor, Rev Rodrigo O. Almosara, by providing the facility of the church and faithful volunteers who helped set up the classrooms, the long-awaited dream of the founder of Springs of Living Water to put up a Preschool was realized. (God miraculously sent Tess Vera, founder/president of Excel Montessori, and assistant, Glo to prepare the Montessori materials and set up the classrooms.)
